April 23 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

What: Caregiver Education Meeting
When: April 23rd, at 1:30p
Where: Aldersgate UMC, 84th and South, Lincoln, Ne

There is ample parking, no steps, and a nice meeting room. The presentation begins at 1:30pmCT. There is always time allowed for discussion and sharing after the presentation. Everyone is welcome to attend. The meetings are free and you do NOT need to register.

The presentation for April 23rd is entitled Tips & Services to Help in Caring for Your Loved One. These presenters are all members of the Caregiver Education Group. Suzy Campbell, Caregiver Chick, will review the Caregiver Organizer a three-ring binder to organize all the information about your loved one. She will have copies available – free to active caregivers – and answer questions at the end. Natalie Leon, Visiting Angels, will talk about their services and answer any questions there may be at the end. Jan Gray, Health at Home Consultants, will talk about their services and answer any questions that come up at the end. Jeannine Bryant, Changing Spaces, will talk about the services they provide and then give folks an exercise they can do at home called “Throw Out 50 Things: to jumpstart their downsizing as well as answer questions at the end. “Help” is the magic word. All these services are extremely helpful in caring for your loved one.

There will also be time for further discussion and for you to ask questions after the presentations. The presentations and the folder of resources we share will provide invaluable information, not only for family caregivers but also for family members, pastors/church members, friends and neighbors as well as professional care providers. I also have some new sheets about resources to distribute.

There will also be a surprise!

Upcoming Presentations:

May 28 Planning Ahead for Financial and Legal – Alan Kuzma at Kuzma Financial Services – Tim Clare at Remboldt Ludtke

June 25 How Can A Pharmacist Help You Be A Caregiver? – Dr. Ally Diering-Anderson

Go to the Lincoln Caregivers Education Group page on Facebook and like us. Thanks. It will keep you updated on events of interest to caregivers/older persons. Several members of the Lincoln Caregiver Education Group share helpful information for caregivers regularly.

You may also visit the Nebraska Caregiver Coalition page and the Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network page on Facebook for even more information.

As I shared I am bringing copies of the Caregiver Organizer to the meeting. Because of a generous donation I am able to provide a free copy to active caregivers. The Organizer is a valuable tool for anyone living alone. There is a suggested donation of $12 which will print another copy. If you write a check to make a donation make it payable to the Lincoln Community Foundation with Caregiver Organizer in the memo line. The Foundation is our repository for funds. All donations go directly into the account. I am a volunteer and receive no compensation or reimbursement.

I hope you are registered to attend the Caregiver Celebration luncheon sponsored by the Nebraska Caregiver Coalition coming up April 30th at Talent Plus. I am looking forward to seeing you and celebrating your service as a family caregiver.
