– Bright Lights Summer Learning Adventures, the popular, long-standing Lincoln nonprofit, announced their 2024 camp registration opens at 8 a.m. on March 2 at brightlights.org.
Bright Lights has been offering hands-on, STEAM-infused summer learning experiences for students in K-8th grades for over 35 years with topics ranging from art and science to robotics, literature, engineering, culinary and more. STEAM = Science, technology, engineering, art + math.
The 2024 summer camps will take place over five weeks: June 3-7, June 10-14, June 17-21, June 24-28 and July 8-12. Roper Elementary School, 2323 S. Coddington Avenue, will be the main site with additional community locations around Lincoln. Before Care and Lunch Care services are also available at select locations.
With almost 100 half-day and full-day camps to choose from this summer – 22 of them new! – there is bound to be something of interest for almost every student. A few of the new camps include:
• Fashion 101 Day Camp where campers will create/sew two up-cycled pieces and photograph their work to create a magazine-style lookbook.
• Jurassic Adventures where dinosaur-loving campers can dig into discoveries of dinosaurs like the T-Rex, Triceratops and many more.
• The Olympic Experience will be a fun way for campers to get into the spirit of the games through sports and crafting as Paris hosts the 43rd annual Summer Olympics.
There will also be returning favorites such as Hogwarts, French Cooking and LEGO® Robotics.
Need-based scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis as long as funds are available. The application deadline is May 1, 2024. For a complete schedule, more information and to register, visit brightlights.org.
