LINCOLN-(KFOR Oct. 7)-Fire Prevention Week began Sunday, a week dedicated to promoting emergency preparedness and fire safety.

Fire Prevention Week always occurs during the week in October closest to October 9th in memory of the Chicago fire of 1871. The fire raged for 2 days, devastating Chicago.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue has several activities planned for Monday and Tuesday across Lincoln. The activities are meant to teach children about fire safety and feature real fire engines. Here is a list of times and locations for the activities:

October 7th :
E4 to Primrose School of Lincoln 8811 S. 28 th at 10:30am
E2 to 3100 Plymouth for Fire Prevention Day at 2pm

October 8th :
E9 to Trinity Lutheran Early Childhood Center at 1200 N. 56 th at 9:30am
E10 to Minis Preschool and Childcare at 2800 Crossbridge Place at 9:30am
E4 to Cooper YMCA Preschool at 6767 S. 14 th at 9:30am
E13 to Willard Community Center at 1245 S. Folsom St. at 10am
T7 to Kenga Kare Child Development at 3101 C St. at 10am
E6 to South Gate Preschool at 4808 Fir Hollow Lane at 10am
E4 to Cooper YMCA Preschool at 6767 S. 14 th at 12:30pm
