LINCOLN–(KFOR June 7)–An official with Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department has died.

In a news release to KFOR News Friday afternoon, the city announced that Shavonna Lausterer had passed away.

“All of us in City government who had the opportunity to serve with Shavonna are deeply saddened to learn of her passing. She was loved and respected as both a model public servant and leader,” Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said in a statement.  “Our hearts go out to her family, friends, colleagues and loved ones. We will miss her dearly.”

Lausterer had been the health director since September 2017 and had recently been on medical leave.

Last month, the mayor appointed Pat Lopez as interim director, who has a master’s degree in nursing and had been working at the health department for nearly 30 years.
