Firework Explosion In Apartment Parking Lot Leads To A Weapons Arrest

LINCOLN–(KFOR May 4)–A loud explosion reported just after midnight Sunday morning near 46th and Orchard led to a fight and eventual arrest of a 36-year-old man.

Lincoln Police say officers were called out there and found a firework had been lit in the parking lot next to a person’c car.  That led to an argument and Samuel Espinoza eventually grabbing a shotgun and threatening the other driver.

Officers were allowed to search Espinoza’s apartment for a gun and a 9mm handgun, a 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition.  Espinoza, who is a convicted felon, can’t have any guns or weapons.  He was arrested for two counts of possession of a fire arm by a prohibitive person.
