LINCOLN – Lincoln Police and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department worked in collaboration Tuesday morning to catch a man who burglarized a woman’s home as she slept. The woman, who lives in Air Park, was awoken around 4:30 on Tuesday morning to the sound of someone in her home, so she got up and confronted the man, who grabbed her purse and fled her home.

A short time later, a Lancaster County Sheriff pulled over a Chevy Tahoe at the intersection of Highway 34 and W Silverado Court for a broken headlight, where the driver, 33 year old Ivan Kenyon, was taken into custody for questioning on an unrelated burglary. The Sheriff remained in contact with Lincoln Police, who searched the vehicle and found the woman’s purse, as well as tools commonly associated with home invasion. Kenyon was arrested and charged with Burglary, as well as Possession of Burglary Tools.

Ivan Kenyon, originally from Florida, was previously sentenced to 7 years in prison for a Burglary here in Nebraska in 2014, though he was released on parole in 2017.
