Over the next few weeks, the Home Builders Association of Lincoln (HBAL) will be building a new home for Martha, a single mother raising eight children in Lincoln. This will be the 17th Habitat for Humanity Home built by HBAL.

With such a large family, Martha works hard to provide for her children and is looking forward to the Habitat program because she can buy her own home, that is safe for her family, at an affordable monthly mortgage rate. Martha is adamant about paying her own way and doing what is best for her children. She has worked for UNL Dining Services for the last seven years.

HBAL’s annual golf tournament will once again benefit Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln. The tournament will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Highlands Golf Course. Approximately 250 golfers play in this event every year.

“Since 1992, we’ve partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes for local families,” says Michaela Harrison, Executive Vice President of HBAL. “In 2017, we supported Habitat’s Build#150 by directing $10,000 from our annual golf tournament to the cause. This summer we will build our 17th Habitat home for a single mom raising eight children and proceeds from this year’s tournament will go towards this project.”

A photo/media opportunity will be at the build site, 4227 W. Hancock Court, on Saturday, June 8 at 9:00 a.m. during the Wall-Raising Ceremony. Those in attendance will include the Habitat family, HBAL volunteers and staff and Habitat for Humanity staff. A Dedication Ceremony will be scheduled at a later date.

Committee Chairmen for the Blitz Build are Jim Christo (402-432-0590), Sam Swartz (402-617-6536), and Ben Carey (402-770-5184).
