Lawsuit Dismissed Against School District Over Missing Student

PAPILLION–(KFOR Nov. 1)–The family of 11-year-old Ryan Larsen had their lawsuit against the Papillion-LaVista School District dismissed this week by a federal judge.

Ryan, who has special needs, wandered away from LaVista West Elementary School in May 2021, where he allegedly was left alone and unsupervised, then walked out of the front door of the school and hasn’t been seen since. Ryan’s mother, Tammi Larsen, filed the lawsuit indicating that no one immediately tried to get him.

The judge said Ryan’s family failed to prove that school officials violated his civil rights under the Constitution.
