UPDATE:  “Tactical Situation” Ends Peacefully In Lincoln’s Near South Neighborhood

A standoff situation in central Lincoln ended with an arrest shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday.  The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Unit, U.S. Marshals and Lincoln Police surrounded a house near 13th & D Streets for several hours Thursday afternoon.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a man was escorted out of the home in handcuffs.  Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Captain Ben Houchin said the man was wanted on four felony charges stemming from this weekend.  Those felonies were terrorist threats, a felon in possession of a firearm, shooting into an occupied house and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

It is clear and safe for everyone to resume daily activities,” Chief Deputy Sheriff Ben Houchin said.

INITIAL KFOR NEWS REPORT:  Lincoln, NE (June 2, 2022)  Lincoln Police, Sheriff’s Deputies and Federal Marshalls surrounded a house in the 13th and D area at mid-afternoon Thursday.  Tweets from both Police and the Sheriff’s Departments asked the public to stay away, calling it a “Tactical Situation.”  The sheriff’s Department’s Tactical Response unit was on the scene.  No details were released.  More information when received from law enforcement authorities.
