LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 18)–A 19-year-old Lincoln woman was cited for negligent burning, after she allegedly burned some love notes from an ex-girlfriend inside her apartment at 46th and Meredeth on Monday afternoon, causing a fire.

Police Officer Angela Sands says the fire was started in the 19-year-old’s bedroom, next to a bed.

“She left the room to take a nap and those notes that were lit on fire started a fire in the bedroom,” Sands said on Wednesday morning.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue was able to put the fire out and damage estimates are around $4,000, mostly from burned carpeting and smoke and water damage.

Officer Sands says no one was hurt.
